Ihor Aleshchenko
Ihor Aleshchenko was born on November 8, 1960, a citizen of Ukraine.
In 1984, he graduated from the Voroshilovgrad State Medical University (General Medicine).
In 1988, he received the degree of Ph.D. in medical sciences in the specialty “Pathoanatomy” , and in 2006 – Doctor of Medical Science in the specialty “Pathoanatomy”.
He has been working in the system of the Ministry of Health since 1984. From 1995 to 2004, he held the position of Head of the Central Scientific and Practical Laboratory of Conservation and Processing of Biological Tissues of the Coordination Center for Transplantation of Organs, Tissues, and Cells of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine. At that time, he began the creation of a new scientific and practical direction of domestic medicine – bioimplantology.
In 2004, he was appointed as the director of the State Enterprise “Bioimplant” of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, which was created to provide medical and preventive institutions of Ukraine with modern high-quality bio-implants. Within the main areas of activity of the enterprise, he organized the production of bio-implants using the most modern technologies as medical products, conducting research and developing new methods of taking, preserving, preserving, transporting, and processing anatomical materials, which provided the opportunity to meet all the needs of medical and preventive institutions and specialized research institutes of Ukraine in these drugs.
Due to the scientific and practical efforts of Ihor Aleshchenko, for the first time in Ukraine, in 2014, the production of medical products began – keratobioimplants from the donor cornea of a deceased person, which made it possible to resume keratoplasty operations in domestic ophthalmology.
Ihor Aleshchenko is the author of 155 scientific works. Following his professional skills and knowledge, he carries out current and operational management of the enterprise to ensure the fulfillment of the tasks of the enterprise provided for by legislation and the Charter of the enterprise. He prepared legislative and by-laws related to the health care system and took an active part in the preparation of the draft Law of Ukraine “On the Transplantation of Anatomical Materials to Humans” In addition, he developed draft Resolutions of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on the implementation of the provisions of this Law on the instructions of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.
Constantly participates in scientific conferences and specialized congresses. Takes an active public position regarding the implementation of the state information policy in the application of transplantation of anatomical materials to humans, aimed at forming a positive attitude towards the donation of anatomical materials during life and after death.
