The State Enterprise “Bioimplant” of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine
(identification code: 32916479) was created by the order of the Ministry of Health on April 7, 2004 No. 187 “On the establishment of the state research and production enterprise “Bioimplant” based on state property and subordinated Ministry of Health of Ukraine.
The enterprise was created to provide medical and preventive institutions in Ukraine with modern high-quality bioimplants and obtain profit from such activities. The regulatory and legal bases of the Enterprise’s activity are based on the Law of Ukraine “On the Application of Transplantation of Anatomical Materials to Humans” No. 2427-VIII dated 17.05.2018 (as amended by Law No. 2694-VIII dated 28.02.2019), Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated 27.11.18 No. 1211, Order of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine dated 25.09.2000 No. 226 “On Approval of Regulatory Acts on Transplantation” (with amendments), Order of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine No. 687 dated 18.10.2006 “On Changes to the List of State and Communal Protection Institutions of health and state scientific institutions, which have the right to carry out activities related to the transplantation of organs and other anatomical materials to humans”, the order of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine dated 12.12.2013 No. 1087 “On some issues of ensuring the production of keratobioimplants”.
The State Enterprise “BIOIMPLANT” of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine conducts activities on the manufacture and distribution of bioimplants based on the Statute approved in the current order.
The main activity of SE “Bioimplant” of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine is the production of bioimplants using the most modern technologies and providing them to medical and preventive institutions in Ukraine. Bio-implants are medical products made from human anatomical materials. Bio-implants are intended for implantation for medical purposes.
Modern bio-implants make it possible to provide specialized orthopedic and surgical care to restore the working capacity of patients after domestic, military, and sports traumatic injuries, congenital defects of newborns, in the treatment of benign and malignant tumors, and many other diseases requiring reconstructive and plastic interventions. A separate direction is the restoration of vision by the blind method of keratoplasty using bio-implants from the donor cornea.
SE “Bioimplant” of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine is the only manufacturer of bioimplants from donor corneas in Ukraine. In compliance with the order of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine No. 1087 dated December 12, 2013 “On some issues of ensuring the production of keratobioimplants” the Dnipropetrovsk branch of the State Enterprise “Bioimplant” of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine was opened. The department was created with the purpose of manufacturing keratobioimplants using the most modern domestic technologies as medical products and organizing their supply to medical and preventive institutions in Ukraine. Keratobioimplants are designed to provide specialized ophthalmic care to blind patients.
Keratobioimplant is the type of bioimplant for full or partial replacement of the affected eye cornea to restore or improve vision. Keratobioimplant is manufactured following the requirements of TU U 32.5-35544302-001:2013 which were first developed by domestic scientists and doctors.
